Have you been to Shashlik?

Cooking the Dessert... by Auntie

Last week, me and Kyori went to this restaurant called SHASHLIK, it's a Russian Restaurant that serves rather great food. It's supposedly known for it's beef and dessert lah, but other dishes like my Shashlik Chicken was fabulous too.

It's special cos of many reasons. It's quite pack on the weekends for many reasons too.
  1. It's at the heart of Orchard Road, but abit off, at Far East SHOPPING CENTRE. (Note: It's NOT Far East Plaza.) This Shopping Centre will take you into the settings of the early 80s man. No kidding. It's that RETRO.
  2. Once you step in, you'll be greeted by an uncle in his 50s or more, with an Obiang red vest and Bow tie. When you look around and behind this uncle, you'll realise he's got his peers, uncles and aunties, all are the waiter/waitress. Dun undermine them. I heard they are also the proprietors of the restaurant. Looong story.
  3. They look rather old BUT, they aint too slow you know. They can intro to you some of the ZHAO PAI CAI there and quite frenly too. No PMS at least. Shashlik Chicken, beef, Garlic beef, Borsche Soup... all so yummy (I dunno about the beef, but according to Kyori, it's quite good)
  4. Saving the best for the last, DESSERTS! They are known for their desserts esp. When their Baked Alaska can only be available on Mon, Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun.... And their desserts have alcoholic content and it'll burst into flames... straight in your face. LIVE. No repeat. Keep your hair away i warn you. The flame's really big. Nowadays you can't find that many restaurants that make their dishes in front of you. This IS special.

Cherry Flambeau!! Literally in flames!

So all in all, this is the restaurant that you would like to go to relax and have a little chit chat to kick start the weekend. The place isn't too noisy too. Nice. But just make sure your wallet is errhh.... can tahan the bill's appetite when it comes. A little towards ex, but still affordable for some special occassions if you really want to have a good meal.
